I think first grade covers adding and subtracting up to twenty. I like the idea of using groups, but depending on the size of your class, you may need more than two groups. Small groups are very effective. I don't know how well mixing a money unit and adding/subtracting unit will work. I think you could change this to just a money unit and produce a lot of fun activities from that. How will they present what they have learned on the SMART Board? Second graders will need a prompt or some sort of guide.
I do not understand the projects that the students will be doing. You should use the materials at Buck Institute or available from Thom Markham (see the assignment for links) as guides so that you cover all the elements required for a good project based learning plan. This won't do.
